FIND PURPOSE SERVING OTHERS
God calls us to an active faith which includes serving others. When we shift our focus off of ourselves onto others we begin to experience the life of purpose we were created for. And when we’re working side-by-side serving with other people, we find a sense of community.
Whether you want to serve inside Chelsea Free Methodist Church, in our community, or the surround area, we have exciting ways for you to get involved.
FEATURED SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES:
HELPING OUR NEIGHBORS
Did you know Faith In Action routinely provides food for 100 or more households each month? One of their primary needs continues to be groceries to keep their pantry stocked.
The following items are needed most: toilet paper, Kleenex, feminine hygiene products, dish detergent, stew, cookies, snacks, pancake mix, sugar, Jiffy cake or brownie mixes, boxed potatoes, canned pineapple, corn muffin mix, and chicken broth.
Bring items to our Drive-in Service on Sundays. Beckie Schoenberg will collect and deliver donations.
For information information contact Beckie at raschoenberg@gmail.com.
SERVING THE HOMELESS COMMUNITY
Our next Homeless Meal will take place in April, at Hill House—a daytime homeless refuge center we partner with, located in Ann Arbor. Be part of a team that *prepares food and serves dinner while building relationships with the forgotten and marginalized.
*Due to COVID-19, we have not been preparing and serving food. Instead, we are purchasing KFC dinners for all of our friends. These dinners are delivered to homeless and recently housed throughout the Ann Arbor/Ypsi area. It is our hope that we will be able to resume serving in person in April. If you would like to assist with the cost of KFC meals, click the "Donate Funds" button below.
For information on other ways we serve those in need in the homeless community, contact Jim Siembor at jikicmbor@gmail.com.
JOIN A TEAM
GOOD NEIGHBOR
The Good Neighbor Ministry Team encourages our congregation to participate, together, in events and initiatives already taking place in our community such as the Heart & Sole Race and Sounds & Sights Summer Festival.
Through involvement as good neighbors, we communicate Good Will through our presence; Good Works through serving; and the Good News of Peace, Hope, and Purpose in Jesus through relationships that develop. We'd love for you to join this new team as we develope a core group of volunteers to put feet to our vision.
SPECIAL NEEDS CARE
Rest & Refresh is an outreach ministry dedicated to serving families with a loved one who has a special need (developmental or physical) through respite care. The ministry was birthed out of a deep desire to let families know they are not alone-God cares about your struggle-and we do too!
The third Saturday of the month (Sept. - May), Rest and Refresh hosts a Special Needs Care Night. Activities include: games, cooking, crafts and music. We also provide dinner and special holiday outings.
HOMELESS
We foster relationships of kindness, generosity, and mercy in the name of Christ by providing support and supplies for those in need. Our service takes place at Hill House, a day-time refuge center for Washtenaw County residents, who need cold-weather shelter, as well as companionship, warm meals and use of amenities.
We help in three ways: preparing and sharing a meal approximately once a month, delivering cases of bottled water every week, and collecting and delivering supplies needed by the homeless.
SENIORS
Our Seniors Ministry exists to develop a loving, caring, and serving community for our senior adults. Activities and events build lasting relationships.
On the fourth Monday of each month you'll find many of our senior community at a local restaurant enjoying dinner, lively conversation, and caring for the needs of each other. We look forward to including you in one of our next gatherings.
